‘Blue Oval’ Ford Power at Kirkistown
Formula Ford 1600 and Ford Fiestas are amongst the main races at Kirkistown on Saturday 27th for the June Car Race Meeeting.
This season is producing the closest racing seen for many seasons in Formula Ford 1600 with Jake Byrne, Adrian Pollock and Jonny McMullan the winners to date. Jake Byrne has been very impressive to date he has scored three race wins and started from pole position on five occasions.
Pollock has won two races and has yet to start from pole position while McMullan has one race win and one pole position. He is concentrating on the Irish and National Formula Ford Championships, so the battle for the 2015 Championship is between Byrne and Pollock.
Fiestas are high on entertainment value and have grown in numbers at the County Down circuit this season with Andrew Blair having scored to date three wins while his teammate Richard Livingston has notched up two race victories and Jonny Forsythe has one to his credit.
Joining in this time round regular leading Formula Ford driver Noel Robinson who last raced a saloon some 17 years ago. Thanks to the efforts of Richard Livingston Robinson will be in the mix.
Saloons and GTs always produce a variety of cars and Stephen Traub with his rapid Honda Integra is a force to be reckoned with, the 2015 season to date has seen the Honda cross the finish line first while younger brother of BTCC Champion Colin Turkington has won on one occasion with his SEAT Cupra.
Completing the programme the visiting Strykers who are regulars at Mondello Park and the gearbox Karts.
