Mullingar’s Jordan Dempsey has this week been selected as June’s Dunlop Young Racing Driver of the Month.
Son of established racing driver and car preparation expert Morgan Dempsey Jnr, Jordan scored a clean sweep of victories at Kirkistown in June to take a healthy lead in the Ginetta Junior Ireland Championship, an achievement which has helped to earn the youngster his nomination.
Dempsey has been one of the Championship’s main contenders throughout the 2015 season so far. Now with three wins and a further four podiums from eight races so far, added to five fastest laps and class lap records at both Mondello Park and Kirkistown, the Junior Certificate graduate is one of the favourites to take the championship spoils.
With the support this year of Kildare Crash Centre, Motorsport Car Preparation and P1 : Digital, the Mullingar Community College student is the third of six Dunlop Driver of Month nominees for 2015. He is now a contender for the prestigious Dunlop Motorsport Ireland Young Racing Driver of the Year Award and the historic Sexton Trophy. This award is presented annually and is supported by Dunlop, the Irish Sports Council and Motorsport Ireland.
Jordan Dempsey – #3 MCP Ginetta G20:
“I am absolutely delighted to be nominated for the second year in a row for this amazing prize. The season has been going very well so far despite one or two ups and downs, but it’s all to play for when the action resumes in Mondello Park next weekend. This nomination will help make me more determined to win both races!”
