Ginetta Junior star James Roe has been named as one of 6 drivers selected for participation in the new Team Ireland Foundation. This new initiative, a national programme of support and development for talented drivers in the sports of rallying, racing and karting, was launched by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, President of Motorsport Ireland and the US based philanthropist and long time motorsport fan John Campion. The initiative will be run by Declan Brennan Sports Management and entails specific programmes developed to address nutritional, physical and psychological improvements for the participants over the course of their involvement.
Having won in Ginetta Junior last year and again on his debut in the ASK Supercar Championship in November, the 17 year old from Naas in County Kildare will switch to single seaters for 2016 when he competes in the 2016 UK FF1600 Championship. He will drive the eagerly awaited Ralph Firman produced machine, which is currently under construction and should be ready for testing in a matter of weeks.
James’ uncle Michael Roe was a multiple champion in FF1600 before going on to win the 1984 Can Am Championship and is now heavily involved in James’ career.
