Douglas Motorsport Continue Strong Form in BF3
Rounds 4,5 & 6 of the 2016 BRDC British F3 Championship took place at Brands Hatch last weekend.
Douglas Motorsport drivers Thomas Randle and erstwhile series leader Enaam Ahmed qualified well; Ahmed in fifth place, having been in second for much of the session, and Randle ninth.
In an exciting first race, Randle charged from ninth on the grid to fourth at the flag, kicking off a run of top five finishes in all three races. Teammate Ahmed had run as part of the lead quartet, pulling away from the pack, but unfortunately retired before the end. Race two was somewhat testing, Randle again proving successful with a fifth place finish whilst Ahmed spent much of the race at the back after starting from the pits but made the most of the most of the clear air to set the second fastest lap and secure a front row start for race 3.
The final race proved the most challenging in Brands Hatch. Ahmed was running in a competitive second position when his clutch let go. After a quick pit stop he resumed and crossed the line in 14th place. Randle again drove superbly to take a podium in third place- from 14th on the grid!
Overall a positive weekend for Douglas Motorsport with three top five finishes and a podium in the final race. Randle now stands third in the championship, with Ahmed having dropped to fifth due to his third race drama.
Thomas Randle: “Race three- what a race! P14 to finish 3rd on the podium! P2 overall for the round and now I sit 3rd in the championship. Thanks to the team for an awesome weekend!”
Wayne Douglas, Team Principal, Douglas Motorsport: “Ahmed has been unlucky this weekend but his pace is undoubted. Thomas fought well and made up places in all races over the weekend. As a team, we are now in the top three of every championship we have entered in 2016″
