Ireland’s fastest growing Motorsport, the Irish Drift Championship (IDC), will take centre stage as the biggest Irish Motorsport event of the year takes place in Mondello Park on Sunday July 3rd.
‘Global Warfare’, Round 3 of the IDC, will see the stars of Irish Drifting battle with a huge grid of overseas drivers representing fourteen different countries in an effort to maintain their 12 year unbeaten record. Most of the international competitors will arrive as part of the world-wide ‘Drift Allstars’ Championship as it brings the best in the world to challenge the Irish.
James Deane from County Cork will lead the Irish defence alongside ex-Boyzone band member Shane Lynch, current championship leader Duane McKeever, 16 year-old starlet Jack Shanahan and many more. The World Class opposition will come from as far away as South Africa, Australia, Lebanon and the UAE, armed with the best Drift Cars on the planet, some packing over 1,000 horsepower, as they attempt to end our undefeated streak.
Alongside the main event, Global Warfare will see Gymkhana Grid make its way to Ireland for the first time. Any driver with a suitable car and who thinks they have what it takes can enter this test of skill, speed and precision, with a paid trip to the Final in Athens as the reward for the winner. The final will not only give one Irish driver the opportunity to compete on the international stage but also the chance to test themselves against Gymkhana legend Ken Block or Formula Drift driver Vaughn Gittin Jr.
Global Warfare’s extreme sports theme will be expanded for 2016 with the introduction of Skateboard and BMX demos and competitions, featuring the ‘Dirt Monkeys’ crew and plenty of other amazing Irish freestyle talents. With all of this going on, this is one extreme sport festival not to be missed.
Tickets for Global Warfare are now available at pre-event discounted prices from mondellopark.ie. For more information on the event see the Irish Drift Championship on Facebook, or the Mondello Park web site.
