JakevByrne – 2 podiums in a week!
Motorsport Ireland Young Driver of The Year Jake Byrne returned to form with podium finishes on two consecutive weekends at Brands Hatch.
A nine time winner in FF1600 in 2015, the Kildare Road Safety Ambassador returned to his ABR run Ray chassis and was immediately back on the pace- taking a 2nd place at Brands Hatch a week ago and replicating that at the Super Series FF1600 race at the same venue a week later. Happy with the handing of his Ray GR13, after the Avon UK FF1600 round, he elected to return to the former F1 circuit just one week later for the Super Series round. Having qualified second, Jake made a perfect start to slot into a lead he would hold for 8 laps, despite the closest of attentions from circuit specialist Ollie White. Unfortunately a slight mistake from Jake allowed White to grab the lead and although the Trinity College student fought back he had to settle for second, for the second time in a week!
Jake Byrne, Motorsport Ireland Young Driver of the Year/Kildare Road Safety Ambassador: “It’s great to be back in contention for podiums and wins! Brands is one of my favourite circuits so I love going over and racing there! All good practice for the Festival at the end of the year!”
