Once the competitors out of the Principality of Monaco, they had the choice to do transfer towards the port of Sète by road or being transported. Unlike last year, a major part of the pack admired the beautiful sun and the nice temperatures of southern France along the 378km of motorway. A kind of « training » which was also a nice opportunity for some passionates to watch the ballet of competitors from motorway bridges for example. « It is the start of something we already know, and its normal, the AFRICA ECO RACE has clearly increased this year both in terms of participants and quality of competitors. This for sure raises the interest and it should not change as we will for sure assist to a harsh fight on the 2017 edition. ». These were the words of René METGE, Sporting director of the event on Saturday evening before boarding on the ferry in Sète, where there was a full lot of croud assisting to the boarding, to the point that police officers had to place barriers. |
