Gillan keen to kick-start Superbike Racing campaign
There is nothing like motorbike racing to pump up the heartbeat, whether it be watching trackside or in front of the television. While the MotoGP and Superbike gets global coverage, the 2017 Superbike Cup Short Circuit season in Ireland is about to begin, with terrestrial TV broadcasts.
From a West of Ireland prospective, 2017 marks the return of a former leading contender. Michael Gillan, originally from Sheffield, England but living in Claremorris for over 18 years, is currently busily preparing his new 170 bhp Suzuki GSXR-1000 K6 motorcycle for the first series of races in Mondello Park.
A mechanical engineer by profession, Michael works in Galway and is looking for financial sponsorship or product support for his season long campaign.
Over the years Michael has made a name for himself in this ultra competitive motorsport category, finishing high up on the leader board in the Isle or Man Manx Grand Prix and finishing fourth in the Irish Supersport 600 Short Circuit Racing Championships. On moving to road racing, he recorded a creditable sixth in the Senior Support Championship.
Michael’s ultimate goal is to win the Superbike Cup Championships and progress once again to the shiny tarmac of open road racing. He has a number of sponsorship packages available for interested parties such as advertising space on his bike, race leathers and trailer all allied to a broad Social Media activity to cover the planned 15 weekend events. Product support offerings that covers fuel, tyres, etc will generate the same promotion. To date, Murphy Sandblasting, Ballina is supporting Michael’s cause.
