Renault Trucks & MKR again taking part in Dakar
Renault Trucks and its partner MKR are again taking part in the Dakar 2018, which started on January 6th and continues until January 20th in Latin America. During this 40th edition of the rally, the trucks will run through 14 stages, crossing a total distance of 8,710 kms (5,400 mls) through the most difficult terrains of Peru and Bolivia until reaching the finishing line in Cordoba, Argentina.
This year, three Renault Trucks are in the running for the prize. The Mammoet Rallysport team will introduce a Renault Sherpa and a Renault Trucks Range K 520, driven respectively by Martin van den Brink (n°506) and Janus Van Kasteren (n°531) and the Riwald team will introduce a second Renault Trucks Range K 520 which will be driven by Gert Huzink (n°517).
For this new participation in the legendary race, Renault Trucks hopes that the MKR teams will be successful in meeting their goals: winning a spot on the much desired podium of the Dakar.
The uncertainty of weather conditions and the unforeseeable last minute difficulties, which are typical of rally-raids, promise a competition with many twists and turns. Regardless of the outcome, it will be an opportunity for the manufacturer to demonstrate the robustness of its trucks in extreme conditions and reinforce its ties with MKR.
