Billy Coleman award holder Wilson gets off to good start in JBRC
Motorsport Ireland’s Young Rally Driver of the Year, 24 year old James Wilson from Armagh, got his season off to the best possible start by winning the Junior section of the Cambrian Rally in North Wales, the opening round of the British Rally Championship in his Peugeot 208.
The Billy Coleman Award winner and his co-driver, Monaghan’s Arthur Kierans, claimed top place among the Juniors ahead of two more drivers from Ireland, William Creighton from Lisburn and Donegal’s Marty Gallagher, while Marty McCormack, Desi Henry and Josh Moffett took third, fourth and fifth positions overall.
For the third time in four years, Robert Barrable and Ciaran Larkin were the winners of the ALMC Spring Lanes Endurance Trial, heading a clean sweep of the top eleven places for Toyota Starlets. Last year, Peter Barrable beat his brother by one second for overall victory, but this time, he and co-driver Gary McElhinney were almost a minute behind after a day of selectives in North Dublin and Meath.
