For the second time in four weeks, Monaghan’s Josh Moffett and his co-driver Andy Hayes dominated the Midland Moto Rally yesterday, winning the Longford based event from start to finish to keep their unbeaten record in this year’s Triton Showers National Rally Championship.
After nine stages, their Fiesta WRC had more than a minute in hand over former champions Roy White and James O’Brien, with another previous title holder Peadar Hurson in third place with co-driver Damien Connolly, a further 49 seconds behind.
Defending National champions Declan and Brian Boyle were in contention for the first loop of three stages, but on the repeat run through the first stage, they hit a bale and damaged their Fiesta too badly to continue.
