Dublin based Construction company Keelan Construction have been announced as the title sponsor for Mondello Park’s budget saloon car series, The Fiesta Zetec Championship.
Managing Director Daniel Keelan is a keen motorsport fan, having formerly competed in single seater stock cars and rallying in the UK. In recent years, his company has sponsored Owen Purcell, who won the Fiesta title in 2018 and returns to defend it in 2019. With Keelan himself now returning to the cockpit in the class, the decision was made to support the popular entry level championship.
The class was introduced by Mondello Park back in 2013 and was an immediate success, with many first time racers lining up to take on some of the seasoned saloon stars, in what was, and remains, the most cost effective class in the paddock. The cars change hands from as little as €2,000 and with near standard spec, running costs are also minimal, making it an ideal entry point for budding racing drivers!
For 2019, the class is promoted by Leo Nulty Promotions, and indications are that grids are already well up on 2018, with 25 drivers already registered well ahead of the opening rounds at Mondello Park on April 13/14.
Daniel Keelan, Keelan Construction: “We supported Owen last year on his way to the title and with me joining him on the grids this year, we decided to increase Keelan Construction’s involvement.”
Leo Nulty, Leo Nulty Promotions. “We have put massive effort into all aspects of the series over the winter break. The cars will be presented and policed far better than before. It looks like grids will be far bigger than last year and so it’s a great time for Keelan Construction to get involved!”
