Organisers of the Fiesta Zetec and ST race series have today announced some major promotions for the 2020 season.
Top of the list is a karting scholarship which, after a selection process, an on track test and an interview, will see a karter winning a season in the Zetec class.
The organisers will hold a registration event at Mondello Park in late February/early March and will invite competitors to attend, compete in a Simulator Challenge and enjoy some refreshments. The championship scrutineers will be available on the day, should anyone wish to have their car inspected, or would like some information on a new build. Drivers who register on the day can also avail of free testing at the event.
Both Zetec and ST Championships will also visit Kirkistown for the first time, joining the 500 MRCI’s August race meeting. They will also compete at Bishopscourt in May, giving a total of four “away” races for competitors.
A “Driver’s Lounge” will be open to all registered Fiesta competitors and their families at all of the Mondello rounds.Tea, coffee and refreshments will be available with class information, grids etc all being available there too.
The Zetec Class will also have a Novice Class, open to anyone in their first two seasons of racing- witha prize for the top Novice finisher at each race.
The Zetec Championship leader will receive a test in an ST at the mid season point, with the ST leader being offered a test in a 340bhp SEAT Supercup. The Zetec Championship winner will once again receive a test in the Supercup at the end of the year with an exclusive prize for the ST winner to be announced at a later date.
Leo Nulty, Fiesta Championship Manager: “This is effecively phase two of our plan for the championships. 2019 was spent tightening up technical regulations and car presentation. This has been done and now it is time to promote the classes. Zetecs are a perfect entry to saloon Motorsport and are incredibly cost effective. In Fiesta STs, you can pitch yourself up against some of the best drivers in the country.
