The FIA European Truck Racing Championship has announced Goodyear as the title partner of the formerly known Promoter’s Cup category for the 2020 season.
The category for ‘CHROME’ rated drivers, dedicated to upcoming talent, will be known as the Goodyear Cup and feature the same structure which saw it become such a popular ‘race within a race’ when it was introduced in 2017.
Goodyear has been an official partner of the FIA ETRC since 2016, supplying the Championship with its specially developed truck racing tyres, and has since helped to drive forward new technologies and developments in truck tyres of the future, all in the ultra-competitive world of the FIA ETRC.
“After being exclusive tyre supplier for the FIA European Truck Racing Championship, the Goodyear Cup is the crown on our long-lasting partnership. Now more than ever, it is important to give all chances to upcoming talent. We are proud to do so within one of the boldest series of motorsport,” explained Maciej Szymanski, Director Marketing Commercial Tyres Europe at Goodyear.
The Promoter’s Cup title partnership is a strong commitment in difficult times, and will also secure the prize money for the Top 10 in the cup standings.
Speaking about the extension of the partnership, ETRA Promotion’s Rolf Werner said: “We are excited that Goodyear has extended its involvement in the Championship and will be the title partner of the Promoter’s Cup for this season. Goodyear has been onboard when ETRA first took over the promotion of the Championship and has since become a key partner sharing the same core values of top-class truck racing.
The opening round of the 2020 FIA ETRC season in Most last weekend already provided for some exciting racing within the CHROME category, with nearly half the drivers on the grid fighting for the podium in the Goodyear Cup and we’re looking forward to more exciting battles this season.”
