Antonio Albacete to race in 2021 the FIA European Truck Racing Championship with T Sport Bernau MAN
Preview by Melanie Derflinger – T Sport Bernau
The team at T SPORT Bernau are keenly awaiting the start of 2021 racing season. We are once again planning for Antonio Albacete to race in the full 7 rounds of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship along with the potential to compete in a national championship race as well.
To engage with our fans during the winter months we have been posting pictures on social media and new videos on our YouTube channel regularly, showcasing some of the technical developments we have been working on for our 2021 race truck. Antonio has also been competing once again in the digital truck racing challenge. The sim races have been more competitive this year, as drivers from national truck racing series were allowed to compete and most of the drivers that decided to participate where experienced, giving fans some great digital racing action. Antonio enjoyed the challenge and is now looking forward to getting back out on the track for real!
The team plans to start the season by attending a pre-season testing session at the end of April. This will ensure we can test the developments the team have been working on during the winter break. Mechanics Tim and Tom have said “We have made a few quite big changes which should improve the performance of the truck even more – we are eager to see what we can achieve in 2021!”
We are also happy to announce that we have renewed our contract with BPW, PE and Monark for a further two years. We are excited that we can continue to grow trusted, stronger and long-term relationships with our existing partners. The team have also been working on developing relationships with new partners coming on board for 2021. Some discussions, are still ongoing, but we are delighted to announce a new partnership with Teng Tools, a tool supplier in which Tim, our chief mechanic, has trusted since he started working on cars as a teenager!
We are also pleased that there are more positive developments within the FIA European Truck Racing Championship. The promotor and the teams are working together to provide investment in order to guarantee that all races this year will be broadcast live, with a live stream online, so that all our fans can follow the complete season.
The FIA have also announced a couple of days ago that an exclusive supplier for a HVO biodiesel has been found, providing renewable fuel for the 2021, 2022 & 2023 seasons. This will make the FIA ETRC the world´s first FIA regulated championship to switch to a fuel that is made 100% from renewable sources! Details haven’t been published yet, but T Sport Bernau are looking forward to testing the HVO fuel in our race truck as soon as possible. We understand the importance of the environmental factors in our industry and as a team we previously have already started to make some changes to how we operate our team to address this very important aspect of motorsport!
Nobody can say for sure what this year will bring. However, we know for sure that we are motivated, well-prepared and with the support of our partners and our flexibility we will have another great season ahead!
