Global tyre company Goodyear joins the FIA European Truck Racing Championship as the series’ title partner, to become the newly named Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship
Goodyear has been an official partner of the FIA ETRC since 2016, supplying the Championship with its specially developed truck racing tyres, and has since helped to drive forward new technologies and developments, not only in the highly competitive world of the FIA ETRC, but also for daily transport fleet operations in the road haulage industry.
Goodyear’s commitment to the ETRC was recently extended through its exclusive partnership as the series’ official tyre supplier.
The three-year partnership will see Goodyear work closely with the European Truck Racing Association (ETRA) to introduce new and sustainable technologies, harnessing the tyre companies’ premium fuel efficiency and low emission on-road product range development insights.
The Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship represents the pinnacle of global truck racing. The championship provides a platform for the transportation industry to demonstrate the performance and durability of vehicles and components as well as showcasing sustainable developments and new technologies.
With eight rounds making up the 2022 calendar, the championship will visit many of Europe’s top circuits proving Goodyear’s tyre technology not only on track, but also within daily transport fleet operations.
Georg Fuchs, ETRA managing director said: “The FIA ETRC strives to become a leading platform for sustainable technologies in the road haulage industry and at the same time making truck racing a relevant research and development platform for manufacturers.
Both Goodyear and the FIA ETRC share the same objectives, where more sustainable solutions are being introduced in the industry and we are excited to intensify our commitment and to have Goodyear as partner onboard on our journey to a more sustainable future of truck racing.”
Maciej Szymanski, Marketing Director for Commercial Europe at Goodyear said: “We are so excited to reinforce our commitment to the FIA European Truck Racing Championship by becoming the official title sponsor from 2022 to 2024. With our legacy in motorsport, our work with the ETRA to create a more sustainable series will see the future of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship change for a greener future. We look forward to supporting the FIA ETRC with this goal and providing them with our latest tyre technology, driven by sustainable materials and efficient tyre management systems.”
Manuel Vidal, FIA Truck Racing Commission President, said: “It’s great news to have the FIA European Truck Racing Championship announcing its title sponsorship agreement with Goodyear. This is a major step that will propel the growth of the sport of truck racing and will give the promoter solid foundations to build on as the championship is in a period of progressive introduction of sustainable power sources. This is yet another indication of the fact that the FIA ETRC is on the upwards trajectory.”
