Gillan grinds to the top of the podium at the Cookstown 100 road races
Claremorris based Michael Gillian made an impressive start to his 2022 motorbike road racing circuit, competing in the Junior Support Race at the Cookstown 100 on the Aiden Sheridan Roofing Suzuki SV 650.
Qualifying on pole, he slipped back to second place from the start of the race, but soon found his rhythm to catch up to early leader Eoin O’Siochru. “I managed to tuck-in behind him but after a few laps, I got caught behind back markers and had to settle for second place overall,” said a pleased Michael.
In the Senior Support Race, also at the famous Northern Ireland circuit that followed, Michael, the Sheffield born mechanical engineer finished 4th on the Dey’s Motorsports Racing prepared GSXR 750 and 8th in the Supertwin Race.
